All this set in the majestic alpine landscape of two of Slovenia’s most popular holiday destinations: Lake Bled and alpine Bovec.

Suitable for hikers of very average fitness and recommended for photography enthusiasts.

Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL AT LAKE BLED

Bled is one of Slovenia's most popular attractions, and deservedly so. It sits on the shore of a beautiful glacial lake with a wonderful combination of natural wonders and unique culture and history. Take a stroll around the lake and visit the medieval castle perched high upon a towering precipice, and take a boat out to the magical island church. End your day with a nice warm thermal spa. (Accommodation in 4* hotel, example: Hotel Savica)

Day 2: BLED RADOVLJICA – TALEZ HILL – LAKE BLED (intermediate, 4 hrs, ↔ 12.4 km, ↑ 420 m, ↓ 430 m)

After breakfast a short car transfer brings you to the small historic town of Radovljica. Before the walk you can spend some time exploring its lovely restored medieval town center and large palace with two interesting museums, before rounding it all up with some light refreshments in the town square. Starting here, you make a short hike from the confluence of the two Sava Rivers up to the Jelovica high plateau, and stroll amid the sweeping vistas of the opposing Karavanke mountain range. The return to Bled leads you along the quiet, shady riverside of the Sava Bohinjka. (Accommodation in 4* hotel, example: Hotel Savica)

Day 3: LAKE BLED – VINTGAR GORGE - LAKE BLED (intermediate, 4 hrs, ↔ 13.2 km, ↑ 160 m, ↓ 290 m)

Starting in the lush green Radovna Valley, you then walk along the Radovna as it flows between majestic alpine peaks and carves its way through the stunning 1.6 km long Vintgar Gorge. A wooden walkway takes you along and over a series of rapids and mini falls thundering through the gorge and culminating at the Sum Waterfall. The trail continues back to Bled Lake via Katarina Church. From here you get a different view of Bled Castle. (Accommodation in 4* hotel, example: Hotel Savica)

Day 4: LAKE BLED – KOPRIVNIK VIEWPOINT - STRAZA BEACON HILL – LAKE BLED (intermediate, 5 hrs, ↔ 15.3 km, ↑↓ 520 m)

Today promises an enchanting exploration of the magnificent glacial Lake Bled and its picturesque surroundings. Bled is a true fairy-tale wonder, with its iconic island church set against a backdrop of towering mountains and a clifftop castle. For the most picturesque shots and breathtaking views of the lake, castle, and Karavanke range, head to the western side. Follow the trail up to Ojstrica and Mala Osojnica for the quintessential postcard views. Additionally, consider a short panoramic walk to the sun-soaked alpine villages of Kupljenik and Bela for even more stunning views. (Accommodation in 4* hotel, example: Hotel Savica)

Day 5: BLED – TRENTA - BOVEC (intermediate, 6 hrs, ↔ 21 km, ↑ 240 m, ↓ 400 m)

An early morning car transfer takes you to the starting point in the Trenta Valley, traveling over the historic Vršič Pass, a road constructed during World War I. At the top of the pass, you'll pause to take in the breathtaking early morning views in the heart of the Julian Alps. The Soča Trail then guides you along the vibrant turquoise waters of the Soča River as it winds through the valley. Renowned as one of the world's most beautiful rivers, the trail leads you across wooden bridges and through the majestic Great Soča Gorge (Velika Korita). (Accommodation in 3* hotel, example: Hotel Alp)

Day 6: BOVEC – MOZNICA CANYON – FORTRESS KLUZE – BOVEC (intermediate, 3 hrs, ↔ 9.3 km, ↑ 130 m, ↓ 270 m)

A 20-minutes morning car transfer brings you to the starting point of your walk – entrance to the Moznica river canyon. The landscape and surrounding mountains you will walk through were once background to many WW1 battles. Several bitter battles were fought here between the Austrian Empire and the Italians. The trail passes by the remains of many once mighty fortifications. (Accommodation in 3* hotel, example: Hotel Alp)

Day 7: BOVEC – WATERFALLS – BOVEC (intermediate, 5 hrs, ↔ 16 km, ↑↓ 300 m)

A leisurely stroll leads you west of town of Bovec, where the focus is on the pure, pristine waters of the region. Here, the Gljun stream, fed by the vast underground networks of the Kanin limestone range, cascades down a 30-foot waterfall before merging with the Soča River. Depending on the season, you may witness this natural spectacle in full flow. Next, you'll visit the Boka waterfall, a powerful torrent of water emerging from the Kanin range. The return journey to Bovec takes you through wide meadows adorned with vibrant summer wildflowers, with the striking silhouette of Mt. Svinjak, often referred to as the "Slovene Matterhorn," dominating the horizon. This magical area even served as a filming location for the Chronicles of Narnia. (Accommodation in 3* hotel, example: Hotel Alp)
