As a pre-trip, you may consider our Slovene Alpine Pearls tour!
Itinerary
Begin your Guided Mt. Triglav Climb in Lake Bled, a glacial lake surrounded by the Julian Alps. Explore the island church, tour Bled Castle, or simply relax by the lake. This is your chance to acclimate and enjoy traditional Slovenian cuisine in a charming alpine town.
Tip: Arrive early to stroll along the lakeshore or rent a pletna boat to visit the island.
Start your Guided Mt. Triglav Climb from the Pokljuka Plateau, trekking through lush alpine meadows, traditional hayracks, and dense forests. Stop at Vodnikov Dom Hut to rest and enjoy sweeping views of surrounding peaks. Continue to Planika Hut or Kredarica Hut, located directly beneath Mt. Triglav, offering spectacular alpine scenery and a cozy overnight stay.
Pro Tip: Spring and early summer bring wildflowers like edelweiss and alpine gentians — perfect for photography.
Rise early for your Guided Mt. Triglav Climb summit attempt. Watch the sunrise over the Julian Alps as you ascend Slovenia’s highest peak. At the summit, participate in the traditional Triglav ceremony at Aljaž Tower — a rite of passage for Slovenians — and celebrate conquering the “Three-Headed Mountain.”
Descend to Vodnikov Dom for rest, reflecting on the stunning alpine views. During this section, hikers may spot ibex, chamois, and golden eagles soaring overhead.
Continue your descent through the scenic Voje Valley, passing the dramatic Mostnice Gorge with its turquoise river and the historic Devil’s Bridge. End the hike at Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest natural lake, where you can relax, swim, or enjoy the view of surrounding peaks.
Tip: Wear sturdy shoes — the gorge paths can be slippery after rain. This part of the Guided Mt. Triglav Climb offers breathtaking scenery perfect for photography.
After breakfast, check out or extend your journey with the Goldhorn Trail or other Julian Alps hiking tours. Reflect on completing the Guided Mt. Triglav Climb, an unforgettable combination of adventure, culture, alpine beauty, and personal achievement.
