A walking holiday for those who love alpine lakes backed by panoramic mountain vistas. The highlights of this walk are the famous Jasna Lake, Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj, along with Mt. Triglav National Park. A dedicated mountain tour through a dreamlike, picturesque landscape. Suitable for hikers of very average fitness and highly recommended for photography enthusiasts.
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN KRANJSKA GORA. The popular ski resort of Kranjska Gora, most famous for hosting the annual World Cup Slalom every January, is the starting point for this tour. You will spend your first night here in the shadows of the mighty western Julian Alps (family hotel 3*).
Day 2: KRANJSKA GORA – JASNA VALLEY – KRANJSKA GORA 16km round trip / ascent 400m. Valleys and hillside walk (hotel 3*). Today you'll visit the beautiful Lake Jasna and then head into the equally lovely Jasna Valley, where you'll be greeted by the glorious mountain arena of the Prisank and Razor Mountains. Stop at Krnica hut for a traditional hikers stew. On the way back you can visit the “Russian Chapel” a touching monument dedicated to Russian POWs who died during WW1 while building the military road over Vršič Pass.
Day 3: RADOVNA VALLEY – VINTGAR GORGE – LAKE BLED 11km / ascent 200m. Valleys & meadows walk (4* hotel). You will be transferred through the lush green Radovna Valley, framed by soaring mountain peaks, to where the Radovna River has carved the 150m deep Vintgar Gorge. The trail leads along a wooden walkway through the gorge and onwards to the world-famous Bled Lake, via the lovely Katarina Church viewpoint. Here you will get your first view of Bled Castle. Your hotel overlooks the lake. If you arrive early enough, head up to the castle for a great view of the church on the island.
Day 4: POKLJUKA – USKOVNICA SADLE – LAKE BOHINJ 12km / ascent 200m. Mountain meadows & treeline walk (4* hotel). You will be driven by car up to the Pokljuka Plateau where you will begin your hike across mountain pastures and rustic farmhouses to a viewing point into the beautiful Bohinj Valley. As you descend, you can stop at the little historic village of Studor and journey back in time. Your final destination is Lake Bohinj.
