Itinerary
Arrive in the quiet Alpine countryside near Lake Bled and settle into the Julian Alps Hotel in Gorje. The surrounding forests and meadows immediately set a calm tone for the days ahead.
Begin the walk across peaceful meadows and village paths, heading toward the famous Vintgar Gorge, where wooden walkways lead you over clear water and gentle rapids carved by the Radovna River. Mossy rock walls and the soft echo of water create a soothing, natural soundscape.
A quiet ascent then brings you to St. Catherine (Bled), a panoramic viewpoint with serene views of Lake Bled and surrounding mountains. The return to Gorje winds through forest edges and calm lanes.
A gentle walk leads to Poglejska cerkev — a small hilltop chapel and natural viewpoint offering calm, open views across the surrounding hills. From here, forest paths continue toward Planina Rčitno, a tranquil Alpine pasture with soft meadows and peaceful open space, far from any tourist bustle.
On the return, the route crosses a beautiful meadow ridge that opens one of the finest viewpoints of Bled and its surrounding valleys — a quiet, elevated spot where the landscape feels wide and unhurried. From this panoramic point, the trail descends gently back toward the peaceful paths leading to Gorje.
A short transfer brings you to the charming town of Radovljica, where the hike begins. Walk gently up to Talež, a peaceful hilltop spot with calm vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
From there, descend to the shady banks of the Sava Bohinjka and follow a quiet riverside path toward Bled. The final stretch brings you back to Gorje via the historic Pilgrims’ Path, winding through woods and farmland bathed in soft afternoon light.
A free day is a welcome pause in the rhythm of the trail — a gentle moment to rest your legs, slow the pace, and enjoy the quiet villages and green valleys around Gorje. You can spend the morning relaxing at your accommodation, explore the small local cafés, or take an easy walk through meadows and forests that surround the area. The views of the Karavanke ridge and the soft murmur of the Radovna Valley make this a peaceful day in the heart of nature.
For those who prefer to stay active, an optional circular hike leads all the way to Lake Bled and back to Gorje (15 km, +400m). The trail begins with a pleasant forest walk toward Bled, followed by a short ascent to Ojstrica, one of the most iconic viewpoints above the lake. From here, the path continues across Višce, winding toward Bled Castle with its panoramic terraces above the lake. After a refreshment stop in town, the return route guides you along quiet forest paths back to Gorje.
After a short transfer to the Pokljuka Plateau, explore the serene landscapes of this high forested region, known for its tranquil spruce forests and quiet mountain air. From the high meadows around Goreljek, the trail leads through protected wetlands — calm open spaces and forest clearings that invite slow, mindful walking.
Later, the route descends gradually toward Pokljuška soteska, a hidden limestone gorge shaped by wooden walkways, narrow passages and moss-covered rock walls. The atmosphere here is peaceful and deeply restorative.
After leaving the gorge, a gentle path leads you directly back toward the quiet villages of Gorje.
After a short transfer to the Pokljuka Plateau, this day brings you high into the quiet heart of the Alps.. From Javorniška planina, the path climbs steadily through tranquil forest toward Lipanska koča, a mountain hut set among open hills and peaceful surroundings.
From there you follow a gentle ridge walk leading to Viševnik (2,050 m). Whether you reach the summit or enjoy the high-ridge atmosphere, the wide-open views over the Julian Alps create a serene and uplifting moment. You descend back to Pokljuka and are transferred to Gorje.
After breakfast, your tranquil week in the hills above Bled comes to an end and you depart individually.
Optional walk: If you would like to enjoy one more quiet day on the trail, a beautiful circular route (14 km, ± 670 m) begins right from Gorje. The path leads through the hamlet of Poljane and climbs gently toward the charming Planina Obranca — a sunlit Alpine meadow surrounded by forest, known for its open views and calm, pastoral atmosphere.
From here, the trail continues toward Kočna and the viewpoint near Poljanska Baba, where the landscape opens into wide, peaceful vistas. A soft descent then brings you toward Blejska Dobrava, before the route returns comfortably to Gorje along the quiet slopes above the Vintgar Gorge.
